2022 International Year Of Artisanal Fisheries And Aquaculture

The year 2022 was declared as the IYAFA 2022 by United Nations with the main aim being to capture the global attention of the life of small- scale fishers, fish farmers, fish workers etc. the raising issues that matter to them and their lives is the focus of this project. A world-wide awareness and encouragement were given to this IYAFA project in the year 2022 to various institutions and organisations. St Agnes CBSE school situated in Mangalore, Karnataka, India is an institute with a difference striving to provide the best education to its students, over the many years of its existence and has got recognition and name throughout the world. The school is well known for its creative activities apart from its academics as well. The school has a special respect to the United Nations cause every year to bring a difference globally. The year 2022 the school planned a meticulous presentation on Aqua life during the Annual Day. The students of grade II presented a dance theme on Aqua, depicting the importance of water, its much important usefulness to humans, plants, and animals. The various reasons of polluting water along with creating awareness was well depicted by students. By depicting this theme, the students were made aware of the importance of water and every creature belonging to water world.

2021 International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.

Preparing the world for the future sustainability and challenges. In 2019 at the 74th session of the UN General Assembly, 2021 was declared the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development. The proposal recognised the need to promote sustained and inclusive economic growth, foster innovation and provide opportunities, benefits and empowerment for all and respect for all human rights. It encourages all to observe the year in accordance with national priorities to raise awareness, promote cooperation and networking, encourage sharing best practices and experiences, enhance human resource capacity, promote an enabling environment at all levels as well as tackle the challenges of the creative economy.

2020 International Year of plant health.

The year 2020 has been declared as the International year of plant health by the United Nations. The year is a lifetime opportunity to raise global awareness on how protecting plant health can end hunger, reduce poverty, protect the environment and boost economic development. During this pandemic St. Agnes School has shown that in spite of the obstacles and hurdles, the school has proved beyond limit the very challenges put forward. Under the valuable and superior guidance of the principal Sr. Maria Gracilda A.C the teachers and students have put forth various activities with regard to protecting the environment. Plants provide the core basis for life on earth and they are the single most important pillar of human nutrition. The surrounding area of school premises was used to cultivate various vegetables and fruits like pomelo, sapota, guava, muskmelon, pumpkin, spinach, ash gourd, bottle gourd, brinjal, green chilies, snake gourd, tomato, lentils etc. Staff enthusiastically took turns to water and nourish the plants with natural manure and the yielded organic produce was distributed generously among the staff by the principal. To enhance the beauty of the school, a variety of flowering plants were planted in pots indoors as well as outdoors. A COLLAGE competition was organized for students along with their parents to mark the international year of Plant Health 2020. People of all ages enjoy gardening. Teachers and Students too maintained their own garden space. Children developed new skills like love of nature, physical activity, caring for plants etc. It also helped them to discover the importance of protecting plant health in sustaining life on Earth.
